Here come the Romas! These are the very large, flat, meaty beans that are so delicious steamed with butter, salt & pepper. I was first introduced to these beans by an elderly Italian man named John, who, along with his wife Lena, tended a jaw dropping acre of vegetables. Whenever I plant, harvest and eat these gems, I think of them.
You are ahead of the curve. I just got around to nestling mine in the garden yesterday. I can’t wait till mine are peeking out too! I planted some romas and some scarlet runners. Happy bean days to come!
